This is an enjoyable, light tea, with a fragrance of roasted vegetables at first, then baked pastries. The flavor is very light, with a nice mouth feel, and some bitterness throughout. I can understand why this is not pressed directly into cakes but instead blended with the other trees to make the gulan - because on its own it doesn't seem to me to be a spectacular tea, even though it's fine and drinkable. So I'm looking forward to tasting the blend. It would be interesting to see how this might change over time, though I don't have enough to age it.

Revisiting this a little over a month later and WOW!
All of the great qualities I loved about this tea: the fruitiness, the huigan, the bitterness & body have ALL only improved. No more tomato vine, only that sweet sweet Ai Ban.

I´ve used a smalI gaiwan. About 80 ml of water with 5 g tea leaves 20 sec. I love this tea. Great balance between sweetness and bitterness. In every new infusion the tea grows (+5 or 10 secs).
First time I try Farmerleaf teas and no doubt it won´t be the last.

10g / 150 ml - really lucky to be living close enough that I could try this fresh.
Sweet and mineral on the nose in a heated gaiwan
.
herbaceous after the rinse, although the fairness cup retains the sweetness and a bit of fruit on the nose.
The herbaceous flavor translates to the front taste at first, but quickly becomes a bit mineral, transitioning into fruity sweetness. It sweetens up altogether throughout the session, more fruit, cereal grains, gentle bitterness that develops with the huigan, adding a real layer of complexity that keeps me engaged.
The huigan is cooling on the inhale and reminds me of mint from a flavor standpoint at first, but then grows into fruits, flowers, & juicy.
The more I drink this, the more I want to drink it. The tea is refreshing, the qi is relaxing, but the youth gives it a good energy and a brightness that is uncommon in anything that’s more settled.
It really grows into itself by steep 5-10. Fantastic!
A really fun and interesting Jingmai experience!
